Meet debbie

i work as a psychologist to help make a difference to the well-being of others

I’m a psychologist from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, with a masters degree in clinical psychology.

As a psychologist, my goal is to support you to untangle and take charge of the unique problems you’re experiencing so that you feel renewed empowerment and well-being.

Sometimes I think that our problems can seem like the big knot of electrical chords that are hidden behind the tv unit :) If you just try to pull at them all randomly, the knot can become tighter and you become more frustrated…eventually throwing them back behind the tele to deal with another day.

When we begin sessions, we are sitting down with this knot of problems together. You decide which chord you want to start with, and we look carefully, and work steadily at weaving out ONE strand or problem at a time. Sometimes this can be enough to release the whole bundle! Otherwise, with our new sense of achievement (and a lighter load)….we can keep going…focusing on just one more strand at a time.

I will be your champion facilitator and supporter that can share my knowledge of the best evidence-supported psychological principles and strategies that are most suited to what you want to achieve, and your unique experience, needs and wishes.

In the past four years, I’ve worked in:

  • private practice supporting children, adolescents, and adults with psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions to manage many different unique challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, ADHD and Autism, and;

  • public health as the clinical lead for child and adult mental health services in remote North Queensland communities.

I have spent quite a bit of time working in remote communities, and with families, youth and children. This has ignited a special interest in me to use online as a method to reach and connect with more teenagers, and parents of children with neurodevelopmental disorders needing support in rural and remote communities.
